Sidebar issue in WordPress

I wonder if anyone might know why my WordPress sidebar isn't appearing on the side of my site, not even at laptop width. I go into the customizer, choose theme options, which then presents several sidebar formats ( 1 sidebar right, 1 sidebar left, etc.), but regardless of which option I choose, the items in question (a text widget, search field and current post excerpt) remain stuck at the bottom of the page. Yet, the content above it (a photo gallery) seems to have slide to one side or the other to make room as if it's expecting those other items to slide up to make up an actual sidebar. Weird.

my suggestion is to deactivate your plugins and use the original theme of the version of your WordPress. Normally this happens because the theme or plugin is using a div that is messing your sidebar. You can use the inspector in the browser to check which is wrapping your sidebar.
