Scissor Tool and Text/Graphic Frames

At 6:30, Mat mentions that the Scissor Tool can split graphics/text frames. When I try to cut an empty text frame, Illustrator tells me that I can't.

My only success with the tool has been in cutting Blob Brush strokes (filled shapes included) and paths.

Could anyone clarify exactly what Mat meant about the Scissor Tool being able to do this with a text frame? Perhaps I'm just doing something wrong?

Many thanks,

David

I don't know... I just tried using the knife tool on a line from the line tool with no success. then I knifed a blob shape and it worked fine.
