Root Views

Wait I'm confused as to what a root view is and how it relates to the safe view

Root View: The entire view of View Controller, Safe View: The visible positions of the view, that will not be blocked views such as a navigation controller.

Roughly speaking, if some view such as a label were to be put near the top of the root view, then it could very well be blocked by a navigation controller. However, if you place that label in the safe view, we know it will not be blocked off by the navigation controller.
