Python Python Basics (2015) Python Data Types list.remove()

.remove

trying to remove last item on the list- seems last item would be 5 but cannot seem to remove it as it keeps saying variable x not there states.remove(5) not correct?

lists.py
states = [
    'ACTIVE',
    ['red', 'green', 'blue'],
    'CANCELLED',
    'FINISHED',
    5,
]
states = ["ACTIVE", 
          ["red", "green", "blue"], 
           "CANCELLED", 
           "FINISHED",].remove(5)
states.remove[("blue")]
states.remove[("FINISHED")]
states.remove(5)

Hi Jacquelyn,

Why are you redeclaring the states array on line 8?

The error message is being thrown because you have .remove(5) on the end of that array declaration.

Remove the following from your code and it should work:

states = ["ACTIVE", 
          ["red", "green", "blue"], 
           "CANCELLED", 
           "FINISHED",].remove(5)

Right! And you also need to remove these two following lines just to pass the task

states.remove[('blue')] 
states.remove[('FINISHED')]
"""these above lines will through a type error I guess """
