Regarding Visual Studios

So I recently to a week long break from the "Make a video game" course in unity. When I came back and viewed my scripts in visual studios and received the notification that my "30 day trial had ended". I can no longer edit or view my scripts. I looked online and it says visual studios costs $500! I really want to finish this course and I have already started work on my own game. Is there a way that it doesn't cost this much? Does Unity require Visual Studios or is there another low cost or free program?

There is a free version of Visual Studio available - You could probably use that. It works great.
