You initialize it by setting it equal to a new instance of the Random class which is done like this:

Random randomGenerator = new Random();

This is how you instantiate any class in Java, you first type the name of the class as a value type, then a name for the variable, then set it equal to the keyword new followed by the class name and then parenthesis. If you need to pass arguments to the Class' constructor then that is done by typing the arguments in the parenthesis just like you would with any regular method.
