Python Python Basics Functions and Looping Raise an Exception

raise an exception

i have 2 syntax error and not sure where I'm wrong.

suggestinator.py
def suggest(product_idea):
    return product_idea + "inator"
suggest = input(Brand name")
if len(product_idea) <=  3:
    raise ValueError("Please enter more letters. ")

you need "" around product_idea the last time, and brand name also needs to be "" wrapped

There are a few issues:

  • all code that is part of a function must be indented more than the "def" line
  • all logic code must come before the return (anything after is ignored)
  • the argument is being passed in, so you don't need to input anything
  • the instructions say to check for "less than 3 characters" (not less than or equal).

Everything after return is irrelevant, including the suggest variable. All you needed was your if and raise statements within your function before returning.
