Purchasing a domain for Wordpress track

Am I required to purchase a domain and hosting services in order to completed the Wordpress track? Is there a way to do this track without spending additional funds? What options do I have?

Thanks,

Hi, you can also develop your site on your local computer using MAMP (or WAMP if you're on a PC). It's open source so doesn't cost anything.

A you're right. I forgot. Tha hell. xD I'm just using this (XAMPP).

Will the wordpress codex install the same as they explain on the training? I downloaded MAMP. Sorry for all the questions, I am a complete newb in this arena.

Nevermind, I got it! :)

You can look for a free wordpress installation. At wordpress.com you can create a free wordpress blog. I would recommend you a free webspace to learn how to install wordpress by yourself. Just google free webspace. There are a lot of free services.

  • Sorry 4 bad English, I'm German. :/

I appreciate the information. I have a wordpress blogsite already, but it was set up by a professional company and I do not want to screw it up. I will research the free webspace option. Thanks again.

No Problem. The free webspace (usually) gives you just a subdomain of the provider. Like yourdomain.provider.com .. so if you want to do something professional you should buy a real domain. one.com is very cheap and the first year is for free. Really for free. You also can cancel your membership before your free time is running out. :)

The subdomain is not an issue since it will not be a "live" site. I just need a space to learn.

Really? I will google that right away. I am a MAC user.
