Prompt box does not appear.

The prompt box does not pop up even when I am following Dave's code. Could this be a browser setting? I am using Chrome.

your code have an error at where the </p> tag is close in a message variable. Add a ( " ) after closig </p> tag and before ( ; ) . its a correct formate. var input = prompt("Please type a number"); var topNumber = parseInt(input); var randomNumber = Math.floor(Math.random() * topNumber) + 1; var message = "<p>" + randomNumber + " is a number between 1 and " + topNumber + ".</p>"; document.write(message);

As inside the quotes space matters , so you can simply add ("Your statement "); and it will work. I think using HTML space tag makes it little harder to pick out errors.
