The error you receive is

Bummer: There was an error with your code: ReferenceError: Strict mode forbids implicit creation of global property '$submit'

So you will want to declare $submit first. Then to select by class you need to include a period before the class name:

const $submit = $(".submit-btn");
$submit.attr("disabled", true);
