Wordpress gives us the ability to customise themes from within the admin area.

The simplest place to do that is under appearance and customise.

Although there are a few ways to access this from within your site,

when you're viewing the customise settings page, you'll see some options on the left hand side, and a live preview of your site on the right.

You have the ability to make changes and see them live, as well to 'Save and Publish' when you're finished.

What options we have available to us here depends on the theme.

And if we switch our theme, we'll find that we have different options available.

For example, let's cancel out of here and come and activate our Twenty Fourteen theme.

If we click to customise this theme, we can see that we have a few more options.

The important thing to remember here is it completely depends up to your theme what options you have on this customise page.

You may find that some themes are really great at letting you customise exactly what you need here.

And some themes don't give you nearly enough options.

In general, when themes want to give you a lot of ability to edit and customise what that theme looks like in the admin area, they'll use something different than this customise page, and they'll use something called a theme options page.
