6,228 PointsonRestoreInstanceState retrieving a int and setting the TextView
Why doesnt this work:
mTextView.setText(savedInstanceState.getInt(KEY_USERENTRY));
or
mTextView.setText("" + savedInstanceState.getInt(KEY_USERENTRY));
import android.content.Intent;
import android.view.View;
public class MainActivity extends Activity {
public static final String KEY_USERENTRY = "KEY_USERENTRY";
public TextView mTextView;
@Override
protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_main);
mTextView = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.textView);
}
@Override
protected void onSaveInstanceState(Bundle outState) {
super.onSaveInstanceState(outState);
outState.putInt(KEY_USERENTRY, 10);
}
@Override
protected void onRestoreInstanceState(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onRestoreInstanceState(savedInstanceState);
mTextView.setText(savedInstanceState.getInt(KEY_USERENTRY));
}
}

23,733 PointsBecause setText() is expecting a String but you are passing in an int. You could do this:
mTextView.setText(savedInstanceState.getInt(KEY_USERENTRY) + "");

6,228 PointsAh right, I did it the wrong way round and placed the empty string before the savedInstanceState was called. Thank you very much :)
