8,600 PointsThere is a common strategy I see used quite often in finding clients which is like cold calling.
Say for example your browsing the web looking to buy shoes, you come across a bespoke men's shoe company online that have a very good product ands service but their website is so terrible it destroys your user experience on their website and you don't end up buying the product because their website was so bad.
These are key clients, they are a successful business so they will probably have enough money to pay reasonable webdesign prices. E-mail them explaining what you do, why your webdesign would be better for their business and explain why their current website is bad for their business and detering customers.
Most the time it will probably be ignored but I know a lot of people that get work and clients this way.
Something that I do regurarly once you have a small client base is to keep up to date and social with them.
Contact them every now and again to ask if there is any more work they require done or to check they are happy with the current solutions you have implemented for them. This is good after sale support and makes it more likely the client will word of mouth your service to colleagues and friends.
If you have a good relationship with the client it doesn't hurt to be a little cheeky every now and again. Straight up ask them if they know anyone that needs any work done or if they could reccomend you to anyone that may be looking for your services.
