Java Java Basics Getting Started with Java Strings, Variables, and Formatting

Now replace <YOUR NAME> in the console.printf expression with the firstName variable using the string formatter.

Coding will not work

Name.java
// I have setup a java.io.Console object for you named console
String firstName = "Mike";
console.printf("Hello, my name is $s\n",firstName);
console.printf("Mike, %s can code in Java/n",firstName);
console.printf("%s, can code in Java! \n", firstName);

in the first prinf-line the dollarsign ($) should be a percentage-sign (%). In the second printf-line the "/" should be a "\".

Hi there! You've almost got it in the very last line. That being said, there should only be one printf statement. You may safely remove the first two printf statements. The very last line you have is almost spot on, but it has an extra comma.

You wrote:

console.printf("%s, can code in Java! \n", firstName);

But the challenge wants:

console.printf("%s can code in Java! \n", firstName);
// Note the removal of the comma after the %s

Challenges are very strict and your results must generally match to the letter. This includes spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and even spacing!

Hope this helps! :sparkles:
