JavaScript JavaScript Arrays Store Multiple Values in an Array Access Array Elements by Index

not sure why this is not working

console.log('players[0]');

In the line console.log('players[0]');, have you tried removing the quotation marks around players[0]? Your code isn't accessing the variable, just repeating the string that you input.
