Hi there! You do not need to supply ul as an argument to the on method. Also, the first step does not ask you to put anything in the body of the function. You may safely remove the console.log().

The class student-list already targets the ul so you can remove that from the selector. and in the quiz its asking you to use the on method to hide list items when you click on them so that should look a little like this.

 $('.student-list').on('click', function(event){
      $(event.target).hide(); 
 });
