Python Dates and Times in Python (2014) Let's Build a Timed Quiz App Harder Time Machine

Need Help with Time Machine Challenge

import datetime

starter = datetime.datetime(2015, 10, 21, 16, 29)

Remember, you can't set "years" on a timedelta!

Consider a year to be 365 days.

Example

time_machine(5, "minutes") => datetime(2015, 10, 21, 16, 34)

def time_machine(tm_int, tm__str): if tm_str == 'minutes': starter + datetime.timedelta(minutes = tm_int) elif tm_str == 'hours': starter + datetime.timedelta(hours = tm_int) elif tm_str == 'days': starter + datetime.timedalta(days = tm_int) elif tm_str == 'years': starter + datetime.timedelta(days = tm_int * 365)

return starter + datetime.timedelta(tm_str = tm_int)
time_machine.py
import datetime

starter = datetime.datetime(2015, 10, 21, 16, 29)

# Remember, you can't set "years" on a timedelta!
# Consider a year to be 365 days.

## Example
# time_machine(5, "minutes") => datetime(2015, 10, 21, 16, 34)

def time_machine(tm_int, tm__str):
    if tm_str == 'minutes':
        starter + datetime.timedelta(minutes = tm_int)
    elif tm_str == 'hours':
        starter + datetime.timedelta(hours = tm_int)
    elif tm_str == 'days':
        starter + datetime.timedalta(days = tm_int)
    elif tm_str == 'years':
        starter + datetime.timedelta(days = tm_int * 365)

    return starter + datetime.timedelta(tm_str = tm_int)

You have the right idea. First correct the typo in tm__str (has double underscore).

Next, in each if block, assign the result of adding the timedelta and starter to a variable. For example:

result = starter + datetime.timedelta(days = tm_int * 365)

Finally, return the result:

return result
