I tested the code in workspace and I can get the .total to work but I'm not sure why it won't allow me to pass..., please help!

231,236 PointsYou've changed the instantiation of Hand so that it now requires a die_class argument. That wasn't part of the instructions, and the challenge is still expecting to be able to create an instance without providing that.
It's OK to override __init__
but only if you don't change the instantiation signature. It's also possible to solve this challenge by adding new code only to the roll method.
