Treehouse TeacherHi there! You're doing fairly well here. You should be comparing the string stored in the variable firstExample to the string stored in the variable secondExample. But by enclosing secondExample in quotation marks, you've made it into a string literal. So it's now comparing "hello" to the string "secondExample", which of course, will not be equal.
Essentially, you need to remove a pair of quotation marks. Take a look:
if(firstExample.equals(secondExample)){
console.printf("first is equal to second");
}
Now this will compare the two values of "hello" and "hello" to each other which will evaluate to true.
