var warning = document.getElementById("makeItRed"); var button = warning; button.addEventListener("click", () => { var getButton = document.getElementById('warning'); getButton.style.backgroundColor = "red"; } );
it works, but it's not letting me pass
var warning = document.getElementById("makeItRed");
var button = warning;
button.addEventListener("click", () => {
var getButton = document.getElementById('warning');
getButton.style.backgroundColor = "red";
} );

54,971 PointsYou didn't follow the instructions. Any code provided needs to stay as is unless you are specifically asked to change. The first task is: Select the button with the ID makeItRed and assign it to the button variable. You have the code for this but overwrote var warning instead. It should be:
var warning = document.getElementById("warning");
var button = document.getElementById("makeItRed");
You have the second task ok.
button.addEventListener("click", () => {
} );
The third task is: in the button click handler, apply a background color of "red" to the warning
div. There is no need to create a new variable. If you check the formatting you are specifically asked to use the warning
div.
warning.style.backgroundColor = "red";
