2,631 PointsMy java code isn't working
So the challenge is "Initialize the showFactButton variable using the findViewById() method like the TextView above it. The ID for the button is showFactButton, and don't forget to cast it to a Button with (Button)!" so basically you can see in the code how I was doing the showFactButton but it doesnt work. I did it on android studio and it worked there but not for.
import android.app.Activity;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.View;
import android.widget.Button;
import android.widget.TextView;
public class FunFactsActivity extends Activity {
@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_fun_facts);
// Declare our View variables and assign them the Views from the layout file
TextView factLabel = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.factTextView);
mFactTextView = (Button) findViewById(R.id.showFactButton) ;
}
}

20,406 PointsYou've botched the type and naming of the variable. Keep it the same as it is with the default code at the beginning of the challenge and you're golden.
I've commented the relevent code below.
import android.app.Activity;
import android.os.Bundle;
import android.view.View;
import android.widget.Button;
import android.widget.TextView;
public class FunFactsActivity extends Activity {
@Override
public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);
setContentView(R.layout.activity_fun_facts);
// Declare our View variables and assign them the Views from the layout file
TextView factLabel = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.factTextView);
//See how I declared the type Button and then declared the name of that button as showFactButton?
Button showFactButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.showFactButton);
}
}
