My images do not show on the main page but if I click on the caption it shows them. how can I make them be seen?

Try closing all of your opening anchor tags.

Also I have another question. Before I had this problem I could not even see the images come up, so i looked up in the forum and someone had the same problem. That person was told to add "/" before "img", so it would look like this:<a href="/img/numbers-01.jpg" instead of <a href="img/numbers-01.jpg" as it was shown in the video. I just want to understand the reason behind this.

The "/" at the beginning of your file path indicates to start from the current directory. Your directory is something like http://mywebsite.com/current_dir. The forward slash starts from there and gives the rest of the file path.

Judging from your code above for the 80's style image, your image source file path needs a period to make it .jpg file. You have this: src="/img/numbers-06jpg" it should be this: src="/img/numbers-06.jpg".
