More detail. . . 🧐 Block level scope?

It is mentioned somewhere on Treehouse that block level scope is either a for-loop, if statement, or function. However does this scope mean that a variable defined in the top level of a function will be accessible inside an if-statement nested within that function? I.e. is ‘block level’ merely a separation between global scope and ‘everything else’?

You're right that a variable defined in the top level of a function will be accessible inside an if-statement within that function.

But a variable defined within the block of the if-statement would not be accessible from elsewhere in that function.

So the scope of the function is neither global, nor "everything else".
