14,636 PointsMentioning stuff you can't change after you're told to install WordPress. Kind of infuriating if you ask me...
Ya know, all in all I'm loving the course. Zac, great job. But I truly don't understand the idea of not covering something like changing prefix tables in the very beginning. There is nothing that's covered in the course that would actually require you to leave it until the end. PHP isn't covered and you're explaining exactly what to do. It's something my grandmother could follow along on and she's been cold for 30 years.
So there's no "you have to know this beforehand" as far as I can tell. However, it's said early on "You'll want to have a WordPress site installed in order to follow along". And we're pointed to one click installers.
Then, we get near the end and "oh, btw, here's something you should change to a different name. Except, you can't now. Ha!"
*sigh*
Anyway, I know you probably CAN change it but here's a couple of questions.
If you're using one click installers, how are you supposed to edit that in the first place?
I've only gone live on my sites this week. Specifically to get the ball rolling and to learn along with this track. I only have 2 posts on each site and they're just example posts anyway and they're getting deleted. So, how involved would it be to change the prefix of the tables on a preixisting site with practically 0 content? What does it entail?
He said "you should" but is it relevant in any way such as semantically relevant or a good idea in terms of "security"? Or is it just a "best practice" and if it's not changed then no big deal?
Thanks in advance!

2,267 PointsMany one-click installers now have the ability to change the database prefix when you initially install WordPress.
If you wait until later, I use iThemes Security - https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-wp-security/ - To change the prefix, and for MANY other security features.
I imagine it's not covered in-depth in this course, because it is not a setting you can change once the site is live and the course assumes you already have a live WordPress website.

14,636 Pointsheey Travis Pflanz (interesting sidenote, there are two Travis Pflanz's) Thanks for the comment, appreciate it. And thanks for the link, that's great :)
As to the "assumes you already have a live wordpress website" ... I can understand if that's the case but there's the section that walks you through actually setting up the site from buying a domain to purchasing hosting and installing and it was never covered at that point in the video. They're right on that page where you can rename the DB and do what you gotta do and it was just skipped over and the actual default name was left in there so that's why I was a bit ruffled about it.
Buuut, glad to know there are solutions and fixes.
Thanks again bro!
