Max difference - how is it 200?

How did we get 200 for the max difference? It feels very easy to just divide 400 by 2 because it was too large. How is it too large? How did we come to that conclusion? And how do we know that 200 is good for a max difference?

Hi Adya,

Toward the end of the last video, he just made what he thought was a reasonable guess based on an average of 400 runners per age (he thought 100 was too low and 400 too high so he divided 400 by 2, saying we could only do so much in trying to figure things out). Sometimes life is just a crapshoot.

Hope this helps.

Hey Rick, thank you for your reply! I did originally think he guessed, but still hoped that there was a sure way to get 200. However, as you said, sometimes life is just a crapshoot. :)
