making changes to a page without it going public.

Am I able to make changes to current website that is being hosted by GoDaddy without it going public? OR would I have to copy code to a local server to test it out first?

Edits in WordPress don't become public until you select the "Publish" function.

If you want to spend more than one session working on something you might make a copy of the page in a location (just a different name) that has no links to it. Then only you and someone you give the specific URL to could see the page. Links from the page would still work and can be tested.
