main.css vs responsive.css

I am trying to input @media screen and (min-width 480px) { body { background: navy; } }

Why is asking me to do this in main.ss vs responsive.css? Does this matter?

It's a naming convention — has nothing to do with functionality. Sometimes you want to break up CSS files for readability and it might speed up response times when certain versions are not fetched.

Doesn't make a difference as long as both your css files are linked to. Personally I prefer to keep the 'main styles' and the media queries in the same file.
