10,331 PointsLooking for a good way to market my business
Now I'm trying to figure out a way to use the web to generate meaningful leads. That way I'm not just bothering people who have no interest what so ever. I'm not really sure where to start. Building a website will take a lot of my time seeing as to how I'm not good at it but not really willing to pay a developer. Are there any good CMS's out there that would be good for this type of thing? Or is there a way to find people who might just consider what the product that I'm selling?
Thanks

1,497 PointsFirst and foremost, you need a professional looking website. This part is easy; look at the resources on this site! You can't go wrong with WordPress. I personally use StudioPress' Genesis Framework.
You should also look into a mailing list, and a call-to-action to get them to sign up for the list. For example, a free ebook, report, product update, etc. Think like your client. 'What benefit will it serve me to sign up for this list'?
Keep your list and site going with quality content. Keep in mind, your list will not always buy your product. But treat it like they would because if you get sloppy or lazy on your stuff, people will see.
As far as SEO, there is only so much you can do. Keep quality, honest content and products, and your list and site traffic will grow. SEO is nice for some search engine or paid clicks, but organic traffic is where you want to be. Look into different marketing strategies for your product, like getting involved in online communities. If you approach people with the mentality of "I want to solve your problem" and not "I want to sell you my product", I think that is the key.
There are hundreds of strategies to sell online products/services, so I recommend taking ample time to research not only what appeals to you, but sustainable as well.
I hope this helped a little. There is literally millions of websites that deal with your exact question, so forgive me for my brief direction. It's also my opinion, so some others may come along and tell you something completely different.

23,118 PointsIf you are looking to grow as a freelancer, you need to go to meetup's and talk to people, be active on twitter, and sell yourself to optional clients. SEO really doesn't get you much outside of a Google search, but it helps.
