Am I supposed to link the 'button.addEventListener' to the index.html? I am not sure what they are looking for.
let button;
let input;
button.addEventListener('click', () => {
alert(input.value);
});
<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
<head>
<title>Phrase Sayer</title>
</head>
<body>
<p><input type="text" id="phraseText"></p>
<p><button id="sayPhrase">Say Phrase</button></p>
<script src="js/app.js"></script>
</body>
</html>

The challenge is asking you to set the value of the button variable at the top there - specifically, to a button in index.html with the ID of "sayPhrase".
Doing that looks something like this:
let button = document.querySelector('#sayPhrase');
With that in mind, see if you can do the next step - it's very similar. Happy coding!
