JavaScript JavaScript Basics Working with Strings Combine and Manipulate Strings

keep receiving "leave space between first name and last name request. what does that mean?

app.js
let firstName= "Whitney";
let lastName= "Ashley";
let role = "developer";

let msg = '{firstName}{lastName}: {role.toUppercase()}';

1 Answer

It means exactly what it says: {firstName}{lastName} <- notice how there's no space between them. There are problems with your code other than that though. If you want to do string interpolation, you need to surround the string with back ticks, not quotes. You also need a $ before every variable. Finally, the c in toUppercase() should be capitalized.

let msg = `${firstName} ${lastName}: ${role.toUpperCase()}`;

Thank you!
