This course is almost 2 years old and does NOT play nicely with the latest versions of Android Studio, Gradle, or pretty much anything. I've tried some of the suggestions, but still throw errors when trying to launch (never mind build). It kind of makes me wonder how current the syntax and/or terms being taught are? And pretty much impossible to accurately follow along. :(
This is a brand new Track... why aren't the courses current!?
Please Ben Jakuben , could you advise?

Treehouse TeacherThis is on our list to refresh! :) The syntax and concepts are all very much current (nothing has changed about SQLite, SharedPreferences, or the other stuff taught in the course). Once you get past the hurdle of starting the project it should go more smoothly. I'll take a look and see if we can improve that experience, though.
Maintaining current content with rapidly changing tools is our biggest challenge as online teachers. Ben Deitch will be finishing some Kotlin courses before circling back to update some of these older ones.

Treehouse TeacherI am very sorry about the delay here. This completely fell off my "to do" list, so thanks for the reminder, LUCAS RIZZOTTO. I updated the project today and worked through all the issues with the latest version of Android Studio, running on the N preview emulator. You may need to update your own tools, but you should now be able to easily get past the worst issues that broke it before.
Here's the link if you need it! Starter files

Ben Jakuben Ben Deitch should make new course on android data persistence.
Also, Realm instead of sqlite.
