"java.lang.Interger res8 = -1"?

Why does res8 equal -1 when we input into the repl: "example.indexOf('z');"?

Hey David,

that is the value that is returned if the char that you looked for was not found in the String. So, it's saying that z could not be found in your example string.

Oh so the method returns a "-1" when the letter does not appear in "Hello" as a way of returning false?

Hi David, that's correct, essentially it's telling us that the index to find it doesn't exist, -1 is the value that is returned.
