Java 9 due for release in March 2017 to July 2017

Hi all,

Looks like we'll all be using workspaces for the time being as Java 9 which was due out a couple of months ago has been pushed back to next summer. The link Craig provided said September 2016 which confused me but it looks like the developers at Oracle wanted more time to flesh out some bugs.

Just thought I'd let all know. :)

If you need early access you can get your hands on it. It's a bit wild west, but feel free to use Worksapces for jshell.

All the code in the course is Java 8.

Just curious, once Java 9 is pushed out fully, how long until your courses will be migrated from Java 8 to 9?

Hi Michael Stedman !

Good news is that most of the changes to Java 9 are around Project Jigsaw, which is a new module system, and not many changes at all to the language, so the classes will all be relevant. We'll do a round up of the significant changes around launch.
