4,236 PointsIs wordpress the right solution for me?
Hello! I have a website that I wish to create but I'm not really sure if wordpress can fit me. The general idea is that users can sign in to the site, and every one can create an event (with my authorization) and other users can check themselves in and even discuss in the event page. Actually it's no an event but a call for people to group together for a cause.
Kindly appreciate your answer, Hezi.

16,593 PointsWordPress can certainly handle doing all of those capabilities. Alternatively coding something like this in PHP wouldn't be too hard depending on how large of a scale this project could end up being. If this was for a small community of people any solution could ultimately be fine (WordPress or straight up PHP/HTML/JS).
Are there any other needs or requirements for this, or additional functionality outside of user signup and creating/approving an event? There are several WP plugins for creating events, all of which allow you to moderate the creation of said events as well.

4,236 PointsThank you for the quick reply. The purpose is a large community of people. The I need each event to be created and managed by the user who created this event, it will have fields for information, and a counter to show how many people are participating in this "event". Moreover I want the creator of the event be able to send reminders by emails and that everyone will be able to share the event in social media etc... This is mainly the purpose, maybe in time more needs will be discovered.
Thanks.

16,593 PointsI've used both https://wordpress.org/plugins/events-manager/ and https://wordpress.org/plugins/the-events-calendar/ to handle the creation of events.
I think that The Events Manager would be the better option as you can have Guest/Member Event submissions which means your users can submit an event. I'm not sure 100% about users checking in, I think that using the bookings option, you could probably list out the people "booked" and just change the wording around to "attending". I know it also integrates with BuddyPress so you might be able to use both together to do everything that you want.
