If I run this sql query "SELECT genre, category FROM Genres "JOIN Genre_Categories ON Genres.genre_id = Genre_Categories.genre_id" ill end up with two columns - genre and category, so the PDO statement object retrieved from this query will look something like this: array { [0] => array (2) { [“genre”]=> action [“category”]=> books } [1] => array (2) { [“genre”]=> action [“category”]=>movies ...
Then genres array:
$genres=array(); while($row=$results->fetch(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC)){ $genres[$row["category"]][]=$row["genre"]; } return $genres;
will look something like this: array { [books] =>action [movies]=>action [books] =>adventure [movies]=>adventure …. Am i getting it right?
