Can someone explain me how does the inout keyword works? I don't understand why do we use it.

Take a look at the Apple documentation, it's about 2/3 of the way down the page.

Basically, it allows you change the value of a function parameter(which you normally can't do, as they are constants), and have that value persist after the function call has ended.
