In the MVP design pattern, should the presenter be an Activity or a separate class?

In the latest version of the course "Build an Interactive Story app" Ben talks about the MVP pattern versus the MVC pattern. It's taught in the course that the MVP pattern should be structured as follows:

  • Model: The data model of the app
  • View: The layout files of an activity
  • Presenter: The activity itself

However based on some quick research I've seen that people associate the Activity as the View and the Presenter as a plain java class implementing the business logic. Even the links provided in the teacher notes on the course support that. I'm confused as to which way I should approach it.
