In Simple Terms, what does prototype base language mean?

I've googled this but what I find is confusing as hell. People write essays on the explanation of this topic, which is mind-boggling.

Can anyone explain in SIMPLEST TERMS possible, what a prototype language is?

That prototype object has a prototype of its own, and so on until an object is reached with null as its prototype. By definition, null has no prototype, and acts as the final link in this prototype chain. '
