Android Android Lists and Adapters (2015) Standard ListViews Displaying List Data (or None At All)

I'm unable to navigate from MainActivity to DailyForecastActivity, onClick of the "7 Day" button.

The code that I have put in, for the navigation is:

@OnClick(R.id.dailyButton)

public void startDailyActivity(View view){

    Intent intent = new Intent(MainActivity.this, DailyForecastActivity.class);

   // Log.d("before","before intent call");

    startActivity(intent);

    // Log.d("after","after intent call");

}

When I click the button, I get a blank (white) screen. Nothing is coming up, neither the TextView, nor the gradient in the back.

In fact, the log statements aren't displayed on my Logcat either. (I did not comment them out when I was running the code).
