I'm not sure how to next a span.

I thought I had this right, but it wont accept it.

Hi hannah - you are very close with this - but you needed to choose the span element inside the intro class like below:

.intro {
  font-size: 1.25em;
  line-height: 1.6;
}

.intro span {
  font-weight: bold;
  font-style: italic;
}
