So the parameters that the constructor for Intent takes is firstly the current context (the instance of the activity we're in) and the class of the Activity we intend to start. Here's an example:
Intent intent = new Intent (MyActivity.this, MyOtherActivity.class);
The key is passing the instance of the current activity or this and the class of the target Activity. Let me know if that helps!
