Design HTML Email Design Coding HTML Email Building Common Design Patterns

I'm becoming very good on copy/paste with this course.

Does anyone else feels the same? Not to be arrogant, but until now i've got not very much but general comments and explanations. When it comes to structure the layout, he just copy and paste, and as a student i see this isn't a very effective method to learn code.

There aint no doubts, just commenting so maybe Treehouse can remake this course.

I have a friend who makes emails as a full time job (she's been doing it for over a month) she says that 99% of what she does is copy and paste things. I think this just might be the way to make html emails.

Agree. I really wanted to learn how to make HTML emails, but I had to stop the video every few seconds to catch up to the typing. I just stopped. Hopefully, the Treehouse staff will update this course, but since it's been about a year since your initial post, I doubt it.

That should be very effective if you already know what you're doing, Karolin. But when learning, it can be frustrating.

Thanks for your response.

+1, I have to pause the video ever 5 seconds to type the thing that the video author copied and pasted from off-screen...

Same. I have over 3 years experience coding websites from scratch (HTML, CSS, JS) and understand how and why to do things. The copying and pasting makes it nearly impossible to follow. Additionally, with the word wrapping I simply get lost and spend too much time getting my bearings in the code. I'm having to remind myself of the higher level concepts of how to structure this bc at the granular level it's unnecessarily difficult to follow. So frustrating!

While the term "from scratch" ( At the course description ) is used in a latter sentence it is said "Knowledge of HTML and CSS is recommended". That actually helped me while doing this course. I get what you say, in the other hand as I understand If you have the principles of aesthetics in mind and the recommended knowledge you can be hooked in the topic. On how to fulfill the purpose of different type of e-mail ( Buy me, Read me and Join Me ) Maybe the course could be included in the Web Design track somewhere ? Don't underestimate E-mails those may be small toes but that's a part that users are expecting in their inbox. The effect of engagement is challenging , don't you agree ?

This is a common issue in most coding classes here. Let me write the code.

I was excited to learn HTML email design because I wanted to add a another skill in my tool belt but I'm disappointed by all the copy and pasting the instructor does instead of writing the code out. Writing the code out would be a better learning experience for students.

Maybe copy and paste is how it is done once people have become familiar with email design but probably wasn't the best way to teach it.

I think I'm going to just download the code from the final file then go through it myself piece by piece. All the copy and pasting is too confusing and hard to follow.

Man I cant believer how old this video is!
