if statement firstExample

help Add an if statement that checks to see if firstExample is equal to secondExample. If it is, print out "first is equal to second".

Equality.java
// I have imported a java.io.Console for you, it is named console.
String firstExample = "hello";
String secondExample = "hello";
String thirdExample = "HELLO";
if (firstExample.equals("secondExample")) {
  console.printf("first is equal to second. Exiting. \n\n");
  System.exit(0);
}

Don't put quotes around secondExample. You need it to read the string stored in the variable secondExample (in this case "hello"), not to read a string literal "secondExample"

You also need to remove "System.exit(0)" from your code. Also please only print what the challenge needs you to print. So remove "Exiting /n/n" or any other extra stuff you're tempted to add. The tests are automatic and will check for exact wording.

Hello Enyang,

I think you need to change this line in your code. secondExample is a variable. if(firstExample.equals(secondExample)) { I hope this is helpful to you, Mark
