I have a domain purchased through Wordpress, blueorchidthemes.wordpress.com. Do I still need to use the FTP client? If so, where do I find the host name?

You're options of what can be done on wordpress.com are limited. Even things like plugins that can be used are limited. I never use wordpress.com because of this.
With the wordpress.org version, you download the source code, and than you are responsible to ftp it to a server somewhere else. But because of this, you're able to do whatever, and install whatever you want on your wordpress site. This is always the way I go.

It says in the Wordpress documentation that they do not allow FTP access. Check it out: https://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/

24,694 PointsMichael,
I saw that, too. So, if I have a wordpress.com domain, I don't need to dowload the software and use the FTP for updates? I wish this had been addressed in the video, or was more clearly defined in the Wordpress documentation. This is my second attempt at the Wordpress track, and I find it very difficult to follow.
