769 PointsI need advice on what minimum OS to have on a Macboook in order to run XCODE.
I want to design iOS apps using XCODE. I have been told that I would need a Macbook that has 4G RAM and at least a 126HD. Is there a minimum OS that will work with this? Will an older Macbook work, and how old is too old? What is the OS window I want to keep in mind when looking, as in Macs 2007 or newer or???

So, first off, I think it is important to note the speed at which iOS is developing, and how often new updates are being released (annually), along with the Xcode updates. The 4GB setup with a 126GB HD would definitely work, although there might be performance effects. Here is a list of compatible systems of OS X Sierra (10.12):
- MacBook Pro (2010 and later)
- MacBook Air (2010 and later)
- Mac Mini (2010 and later)
- Mac Pro (2010 and later)
- MacBook (Late 2009 and later)
- iMac (Late 2009 and later)
Any of these machines would get the job done well, but that does not mean you need a newer system to develop for iOS. I hope this has given you some insight.
If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!
