I looking to build a wiki and I want to know how is the codex built, is the code open source? Is there a plugin/ theme?

I like the organization of the site and I am looking to find a system that is WordPress based or however the codex.wordpress.org is built.

I believe the Codex was built with MediaWiki, although they are (slowly) migrating away from that and into a more integrated system. I wouldn't necessarily recommend the same approach they took originally for the Codex.

There are a few wiki plugins for WordPress you should be able to find and test out by just searching for WordPress Wiki Plugins. I don't have one personally to recommend unfortunately.
