i have tried the cod i have written in workspace and it works. but it stills says that the value is incorrect

def word_count(string): words_list = string.split(" ") dic = {} for word in words_list: word_counter = 0 for word_check in words_list: if word_check.lower() == word.lower(): word_counter += 1 dic[word.lower()] = word_counter return dic

wordcount.py
# E.g. word_count("I do not like it Sam I Am") gets back a dictionary like:
# {'i': 2, 'do': 1, 'it': 1, 'sam': 1, 'like': 1, 'not': 1, 'am': 1}
# Lowercase the string to make it easier.

def word_count(string):
        words_list = string.split(" ")
        dic = {}
        for word in words_list:
            word_counter = 0
            for word_check in words_list:
                if word_check.lower() == word.lower():
                    word_counter += 1
            dic[word.lower()] = word_counter
        return dic

Hi Shai,

You need to call the split method in a way that splits on all whitespace.

You have string.split(" ") which will only split on the specific space character within the quotation marks that you've passed an argument. instead call split with no arguments, it defaults to splitting on whitespace, like string.split()

Cheers,

Eric
