JavaScript Node.js Basics 2017 Create a Command Line Weather Application Parsing Data and Printing - Solution

i have no question. just wanted to put this out there. this whole section needs to be reworked.

This whole section is f-ed. cant work with the video cause api is no longer free. did if for open weather starting. got locked. no way we can practice this well to get better without out getting locked out of something, and skills are way high. got to get it right the first or second try. come onnnn~~~~ yall get to do a better video so i can actually practice, dont get me wrong cause i still do practice where i can, but this ish is hard.

I agree with Kayvon, Started on this node.js Course this week and when I came across this section - i got super confused. the http://api.openweathermap.org is so different to the answer/approach on the video.

really hope you guys can update this section soon.

I'm amazed that this post was made 2 years ago, and this course still hasn't been reworked in any meaningful way. The courses taught by Andrew Chalkley in Unit 6 of the full stack js degree path have been filled with information that is outdated, staggering amounts of grammatical issues (both spoken and in the subtitles) that have had me confused for hours trying to understand what exactly is being conveyed, and multiple mistakes in the code he writes in the videos (most of which have already been caught and addressed by treehouse STUDENTS in the Questions section of videos). This really needs to be addressed now, not yet another 2 years from now.

I agree this whole Node.js course has been very confusing due to outdated/unclear information

its all good bro stick with it , i had the same issue, ended up using http://api.openweathermap.org, they have a free api key , their docs and api guide has all the example code snippets you need to complete this project. Stick with it and persistence will pay off, ive been using treehouse for a few weeks now and my understanding of JS has grown enormously.

I am sorry but even with the teacher's notes, this whole section needs to be re-done. I'm basically stuck with stopping this whole section of the course and heading back to Udemy courses to learn Node. I'm new to Node and this has been a very unhelpful introduction.

Ellis is right, openweathermap is great and works basically the same as the code provided in the video/teacher notes. there are little changes to be made with the new api service, and figuring it out on your own makes it more beneficial.
