I have an old book that covers upto Javascript 1.5. Would this be a useful addition for learning or misleading?

Has Javascript changed that much from 1.5 to 1.8.x? The book would be for extra reference when doing the Front-Dev course on Basics.

Without reading the book it's hard to say, but to be honest, I'd be inclined to try and find something newer, regardless. No tech ages faster than web tech and that's certainly going to have been the case with JavaScript -- particularly in the past few years.

I know this is a really old post, but I'd recommend you to read JavaScript & jQuery by Jon Duckett or Learn JavaScript and Ajax with w3schools.
