This is my code:

App.js

const express = require('express');
const bodyParser = require('body-parser');
const cookieParser = require('cookie-parser');

const app = express();
app.use(bodyParser.urlencoded({extended:false}));
app.use(cookieParser());

app.set('view engine', 'pug');

const routes = require('./routes');

app.use(routes);

app.use((req, res, next) => {
    console.log("World");
    next();
});

app.use((req, res, next) => {
    const err = new Error('Not Found');
    err.status = 404;
    next(err);
});

// error handler
app.use((err, req, res, next) => {
    res.locals.error = err;
    res.status(err.status);
    res.render('error', err);
});

app.listen(3000, () => {
    console.log('The application is running on localhost:3000!')
});

index.js

const express = require('express');
const router = express.Router();

// Root Route
router.get('/', (req, res) => {
    const name = req.cookies.username;
    if (name) {
        res.render('index', {name});
    } else {

});

// Cards route
router.get('/cards', (req, res) => {
    res.render('card', {prompt: "Who is buried in Grant's tomb?"});
});

// Hello route

I got this same error: Error: Cannot find module './routes'

To fix it I realized that I had to put the routes folder at the same level as view and not inside it. Problem solved.
